Wedding Videography in Canberra

Wedding videography in Canberra is a wedding cinematographer’s dream. We love capturing the unique flavours of this diverse capital city, from iconic architectural wonders to rustic country homesteads. Naturally though, nothing can compare to the diverseness of each unique, wonderful couple, who are of course the superstars of their wedding film!

Why is Canberra such a fantastic location for wedding videographers?

While Canberra is Australia’s capital, it’s also known as the “Bush Capital” because it’s surrounded by sprawling forests, wineries, farmland and expanses of lush, nature reserves.

Within the city of Canberra (and the entire Canberra region) there are dozens of beautiful places for couples to get married – all of them providing splendid backdrops for wedding cinematographers to capitalise on. In this article we’ll explore just a few of these places.

Wedding videography at Old Parliament House

Steeped in history, Old Parliament House is one of the few ceremony/reception venues where you and your guests can sit in the same rooms where national and international world leaders once sat in! Fully restored, the venue combines modern sophistication with rich layers of the past.

Old Parliament House has everything from stunning symmetrical courtyards to iconic backgrounds; and from a cinematography point of view, it offers a smorgasbord of exquisite settings, which you can see clearly in Samantha and Nathan’s wedding highlight film, as well as in the still shots below.

Wedding videography at Hotel Realm

Although Canberra has many unique outdoor settings which are ideal for wedding videography, there are just as many beautiful hotels which provide glorious and exquisite interior cinematography moments as well; like the Hotel Realm.

The Hotel Realm is located in Barton on the footsteps of Parliament House. Its contemporary, luxurious design provides the perfect setting for wedding day stories, just like Kristina and Matthew’s.

Whether we’re filming guests chattering, cakes being cut or a garter being tussled over, we capture the wonderful mood of the room as well as the movement.

The National Arboretum

Located at the western end of Lake Burley Griffin, The National Arboretum was created after the devastating bushfires of 2003, which wiped out much of the pine plantations. Now though, its home to forests of rare, threatened or iconic species from around the globe.

As you can imagine, these forests provide lush, living backdrops for photography and wedding cinematography moments alike. But the interior areas are just as spectacular. The Village Centre in the heart of the Arboretum features lofty, woody ceilings that encapsulate the beauty of the nearby Chilean wine palm forest. With sweeping views of Lake Burely Griffin, the National Arboretum is a divine Canberra ceremony and reception venue.

Other Canberra locations for great wedding cinematography

The Deck at Regatta Point

If a picturesque wedding is at the top of your list, The Deck at Regatta Point has magical views of Lake Burley Griffin and Commonwealth Park. We love panoramic views as much as you do, and our films capture the full, glorious picture!

When a ceremony and reception venue offer stunning views, some couples opt for aerial drone cinematography, which provides a bird’s eye view of the event.

The National Gallery of Australia

Aside from being one of the largest galleries in Australia, the National Gallery is also the ideal place to get married. You can start with an intimate ceremony in the exquisite gardens followed by a wedding reception in either the Sculpture Garden Restaurant or Gandel Hall.

Tuggeranong Homestead

Tuggeranong Homestead offers a country setting just 20 minutes from the city. Enjoy a peaceful ceremony followed by a rustic reception oozing with country ambience and style.

In picturesque places where the city lights melt into the starry, speckled sky, some couples love to have timelapse cinematography. It certainly adds a further ‘wow’ factor to their wedding film.
